Mynydd Eglwysilan is a 355m high hill above Ystrad Mynach and Senghenydd. You can park in several different laybys upon the ridgeway, or you can walk it from many footpaths from the valley floor.
The walk from a nearby layby is gentle and follows wide, generally grassy tracks. Views from the first few steps are broad, and you can easily see Pen y Fan and the Brecon Beacons looking North and plenty of South Wales Valley views looking in other directions.
The summit is marked by a fallen trig point, and offers panoramic views in every direction.
We walked a 2.4 mile loop and it was a good walk, definitely a reccomended hill to do if you just want a short and gentle walk – we only ascended about 240ft in total.
