Glasgwm is the eighth summit on this 9 mountain circular walk and it is a good one. Topped by a large cairn, with two ponds and plenty of crags it would make an ideal wild camping spot as you’d be able to get some decent shelter from winds.
We got to this summit as the sun was setting and we could see the sun setting by Cadair Idris, a great view. The walk from Waun Camddwr is across lots of wooden boards, some of them rotten and submerged. Once you start the ascent it dries out and is steep, but plenty of interesting routes with some scrambling if you fancy it.
The walk up offers great views back over the route so far and some nice views left of other craggy outcrops.
The summit itself offers lots of photogenic views and focal points. Two ponds, a huge cairn, views towards Cadair Idris and in every other direction. We arrived just as the sun was setting and with quite a decent sky so we were lucky, given the earlier low cloud that came over.
This would make an ideal wild camping spot, with a water source, plenty of rocks to sit on and little sheltered spots.
A mountain that should be on everyone’s list and we had it to ourselves, so not sure how busy it is normally or earlier in the day. Go and walk it!
